David Vincenti

David Vincenti is a father, husband, poet, engineer, accordionist, and baseball fan who believes it is possible to root for the Mets without hating the Yankees. His first manuscript,
To the Ones Who Must Be Loved, is currently out knocking on doors. Don’t be surprised if it shows up to ask for your support next! (And be sure to view a few “Daughter Poems”, available under “Selected Works”, so you’ll recognize them when they show up). David’s poems have appeared in the
Paterson Literary Review, the
Christian Science Monitor, and The Journal of New Jersey Poets, and have been nominated for a
Pushcart Prize. Prose from David’s pen has appeared in
Poetic Voices magazine and
Stevens Institute of Technology’s alumni magazine,
The Indicator.
Since 2004, David has made available to area grammar schools a series of customizable poetry workshops, geared to create excitement about writing, hearing, and reading contemporary poetry. His Introduction to Poetry discusses three essential elements of poems, and uses lively group and individual exercises to engage students in Grade 3 through 8. Under development now are an Introduction class for grades 1 and 2, and theme classes (including Poetry and Science, Poetry and Pictures) for all students. Workshops can be developed to complement any curriculum need.
An alumnus of Stevens Institute of Technology with degrees in Materials Engineering and Technology Management, David serves his alma mater as advisor and Artist in Residence at the Center for the Performing Arts at DeBaun Auditorium, where he hosts the Spoken Word Series. David received the Robert Reed Service Award in 2005 for his contributions to arts on campus and in the northern NJ community. Additionally, David has presented to high school students, undergraduate students, and technical professionals on subjects ranging from interview skills to business practices to project management. David supports his poetry and family habits as a product development manager in the medical device industry, and has launched healthcare products ranging from latex-free tourniquets to protein-purifying ultracentrifuges to diabetes management systems.
A native of New York City, David has traded in his Ozone Park accent in an attempt to blend into northern New Jersey, where his family has made it clear they intend to stay.
